Social Networking 3.0: Beyond Twitter

Facebook? Twitter? What's Next?

Bradshaw-Kimbrel has recently joined in on what we are calling Social Networking 2.0: the Twitter craze.  Its simplicity and user-friendliness makes it a powerful tool to keep connected with families, co-workers, or just people who are interested about you or your organization.  Although many people use these services for social networking these websites are becoming more and more popular for business networking and arguably more importantly: public relations.  All you seem to hear about lately is Twitter...everywhere.  Does this mean that Facebook is on its way out?  Certainly not:  It's just as important to maintain (or establish) your presence on Facebook as it is on Twitter.  Facebook still remains the # 1 social networking website and offers a lot more than Twitter at the present.  Rather than look at Facebook and Twitter as competition you should look at them as other ways to gain more exposure in the online global community.

If you aren't on Facebook or Twitter don't panic - it's never too late to join and it's free to signup.  Anyone can do it and it's a great way to stay connected to your target audience.  What's the catch?  There is none.  It's free, you don't have to sign any contracts, and there is not commitment.  You should however make it a habit to keep your profiles and status on social networking websites updated frequently--at least once a week--so as not to appear that your business or organization is defunct or inactive.

So what's next after Twitter?  Already we are starting to see niche markets forming their own social networking cliques.  There are many opportunities that the current available technology allows us to provide users; it's just a matter of demand being understood before it can be met.  Presently, most social networking websites are either completely unfocused or they are focused on specific industries or socioeconomic groups.  The next step is implementation of Social Networking 3.0: the next phase in social networking.  Bradshaw-Kimbrel will soon unveil plans for Social Networking 3.0...stay tuned!
